Smart Vault Portal

Getting Started

Activate Your Account:

  1. Check your spam or junk folder for an email from notify@my.smartvault.com.
  2. This email contains your unique activation link to access your personal vault and online client portal.
  3. Use the activation link to create a password and complete the login process.

Recommended Browser:

  1. The site works best with Google Chrome. It may not load properly on Safari, Firefox, or other browsers.

    Navigating the Portal

    Login and File Access:

    1. After logging in, click on the “View Files and Folders” tab in the left-hand menu.

    Select Your Vault:

    1. Choose the vault labeled with your name, your child’s name, or your business name (e.g., Your Name, Child’s Name, Business Name).

    Access Yearly Folders:

    1. Inside your vault, you will see folders for different years such as TY21, TY22, etc. These stand for Tax Year 2021, Tax Year 2022, etc.

    Expand Yearly Folders:

    1. Expanding the folder for a specific tax year will reveal the following subfolders:
        • Client Tax Organizer
        • Client Source Documents
        • Client Tax Returns

    Uploading Documents

    1. Upload to the Right Folder:
      • Upload your scanned tax documents to the corresponding year’s Client Source Documents folder.
    2. How to Upload:
      • Drag and drop files directly into the upload box or use the Browse and Upload function.
    3. Important Guidelines:
      • Upload all documents at once to avoid confusion in processing.
      • Accepted file formats: PDF, JPG, Excel, or Word. Other file types cannot be opened.
      • Ensure the files are scanned and properly organized.

    Helpful Tips

    1. Scanning from Your Smartphone:
      • You can scan your documents directly from your smartphone using apps that save files in PDF or JPG formats.
    2. Filling Out the Tax Organizer:
      • Download the Tax Organizer to your computer and open it in a PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
      • Use the FILL & SIGN function (look for the purple pencil icon with a squiggle) to complete the form digitally.
      • Alternatively, you can download, print, and fill out the form by hand.
